What
HIPAA Does and Does Not Do (Click title for more details)
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
includes important - but limited - protections for millions of working
Americans and their families. HIPAA may:
- Increase your ability to get health coverage for yourself and your
dependents if you start a new job;
- Lower your chance of losing existing health care coverage, whether you have
that coverage through a job, or through individual health insurance;
- Help you maintain continuous health coverage for yourself and your
dependents when you change jobs; and
- Help you buy health insurance coverage on your own if you lose coverage
under an employer's group health plan and have no other health coverage
available.

Statistics: We know what they are,
but not who they’ll happen to
Whose
Car is Insured?
-
52% of Californians auto policies provide
for only minimal insurance, as required
by the state ($15k)
-
33% of all California drivers are
completely uninsured!
-
With the above 2 statistics, you have an
85% chance of collecting nothing or
next to nothing from the other driver’s
insurance company or the other driver,
if they don’t have insurance; because
-
Most Americans have only 2 months of
savings, in case of an emergency
-
45% of Americans age 45 & older have
only saved $1,500 towards retirement
and 51.2% have saved nothing for it
-
Therefore a total of 96.2% don’t have
enough money to pay for an accident, if
they don’t have insurance, because they
cannot pay you for your loss out of any
savings they don’t have!
-
But,
not to worry: The courts have been known to award victims who win
cases in CA verdicts of up to 50% of the guilty party's salary for up
to 20 years, if they don't have the money or proper insurance coverage
to compensate immediately.
-
Drunk drivers kill 17,000 persons a year
in the USA
-
Vehicle animal collisions kill over
200,000,000 animals a year. How many
of these may result in injuries or death
to the occupants of the vehicle?
Other
Insurance Statistics:
-
One out of five persons are getting cancer
these days
-
21% of persons under 21
will die before they reach age 65
-
Over one third (33 percent) say their family
assets and income will be enough to pay
for long-term care should it be needed; But average nursing home care costs in
California can soar well beyond $50,000
per year
-
Yet
only one out of ten surveyed have invested
in a program to cover the costs of this care
-
Chances of persons requiring
long-term care are high:
-
Probability of
a house being
destroyed is 1 in 1300.
-
Chances of
a car being totaled are 1 in 250.
-
Chances of needing hospitalization
are 1 in 15.
-
But
1 out of 3 people will need a long-term care insurance policy.
-
Put in another way, for people who are at least age 65 years old, only
5 out of 1000 (0.5%) will lose their homes due to fires.
-
For the same
age group, only 70 out of 1000 (7%) will be involved in car accidents
and file insurance claims. (SOURCE: InsuranceNewsNet, Inc.)
