Santa Barbara Newspress

News-Press voices section: July 27, 2004

Today the voices section published multiple articles on issues facing Santa Barbara schools.  Both Mr. Cirone and Ebenstein discussed upcoming issues facing local school districts.  Past articles in the News Press have talked about build able land that Goleta Schools owns.

Let’s tie all of these comments into discussions on affordable housing for the middle class, especially teachers, firefighters, and law enforcement. One individual, Gary Cook, has been meeting with all our government entities with the goal of creating affordable housing for these groups.  We have a need for affordable housing for the middle class, the above mentioned groups.  These schools have the land. Mr. Cook has some innovative ideas.

My Challenge to our elected leaders is to meet with Mr. Cook take his ideas and implement them, while bringing in the leaders of our schools.  So Santa Barbara leaders are you willing to take the bull by the horns and act, or are you as a group, just hot air?
